• Local Cryo

Target a specific area to accelerate healing and reduce pain

What is Local Cryo?

(Up to 12 minutes | Price of 1 ‘Cryo Session’)

Local Cryotherapy treatments are used to reduce pain, inflammation, and swelling in targeted areas. Unlike Whole Body Cryotherapy, which triggers an internal systemic anti-inflammatory response in the body, local cryotherapy is comparable to “icing”, although much more powerful and efficient.

Clients frequently combine this treatment with Whole Body Cryotherapy, to treat problem areas both from the “inside out” as well as from the “outside in”. As temperatures as low as -240 degrees F can be reached by our devices, a local area treatment only needs to be conducted for about 5-8 minutes, with a benefit exceeding that of hours of icing.

Local Extended

Up to 30 minutes | Price of 2 ‘Cryo Sessions’

For larger areas or to reduce cellulite, you can do an Extended Local session for 30 minutes. Our Local Cryo machine has the following preset areas for 30 minute treatments: Back, Arms, Chest, Stomach, Thighs, or Hips.

  Top benefits

Cold has an analgesic (numbing) effect on soft tissues, due to a combination of decreased production of pain mediators and slower spread of nerve pain signals. Nerve cells in the chilled area cause nearby blood vessels to constrict (scientifically known as vasoconstriction), leading to a reduction of blood flow to the injury site; this acts to moderate pain. While passive cryotherapy systems will help with pain relief, using a system that deploys active cold treatment will draw more heat away from the injury site, leading to more efficient temperature reduction and better pain reduction.

Inflammation has been identified as the key driver of the aging process, causes pain, and is associated with most age related diseases. Cryo will increase your norepinephrine levels, which is a powerful anti-inflammatory.

Following an injury, your body immediately triggers an inflammatory response – this means increased blood flow, edema build-up, and movement of leukocytes (white blood cells) to the soft tissue injury site. Our white blood cells are important defenders of our body, resisting attacks by viruses or bacteria. However, they also can cause cellular injury and necrosis and promote swelling.

Cryo has been shown to enhance collagen levels, so if you’re having problems with joints and tendons or just want to stave off wrinkles and skin aging, it’s a perfect and natural alternative to collagen injections.

How does the Local Cryo work?

Local Cryo is the application of cryogenically cooled air to specific parts of the body. It can be used to alleviate pain, inflammation and speed up recovery from injuries through cryogenically cooled air penetrating deeper into the layers of tissue and increasing blood circulation.

How many treatments before I will see results?

People notice results after one Local Cryo, however for long lasting results we recommend at least 3 sessions.

Is it safe to get a Local Cryo on consecutive days?

Yes. In fact, getting consecutive treatments or multiple cryo treatments in a week is recommended to see maximum benefit.

How long are the local treatments?

A local treatment is up to 12 minutes and costs 1 Cryo Session and an extended treatment is 30 minutes and costs 2 Cryo Sessions.

Can I get a Local Cryo after a Whole Body treatment?

Yes. Clients frequently combine this treatment with Whole Body Cryotherapy, to treat problem areas both from the “inside out” as well as from the “outside in”.

What will the Local Cryo feel like?

The air feels very refreshing and calming. Our trained spa attendant will constantly be moving the wand so that one area will not get too cold.

Do I need to undress for this treatment?

Depending on the body part, you’ll uncover the area to be treated. We have robes and spa wraps to help conceal any area that’s not getting treated.

Am I seated or laying down for Local Cryo?

We have a massage table and an adjustable chair, so depending on the treatment, we’ll use whatever works best along with what you’re most comfortable with.
